Secret Charter/MCM 11.18

Secret Charter and Midcentury Modern Show. November 2018.

Here’s the image which I donated to the Secret Charter fundraising event recently to help fund the art department at The Charter School in Dulwich. Hundreds of artists gave pieces of work including Gary Hume, Tracy Emin and Anthony Gormley. Tickets were bought for £40 and the artworks were randomly allocated. Everything sold out in 25 minutes! The work was on show at the Dulwich Picture Gallery and the event raised over £50,000. Looking ahead, I will have new work on show on my stand at Midcentury Modern, Dulwich, London, SE21 7LD on Sunday 18th November, 10am-4pm. Feel free to contact me for free tickets via my contact page – I often have a few spare pairs.

Dock, 10.13

Dock seed heads, London.

Walking along Cornish sections of the South West Coast Path in late summer, the deep rusty colours of Dock seed heads were a constant source of temptation for blog photography (see previous entry). Funnily enough though, here in London, riding along a green path which takes the route of the old Peckham branch of the Grand Surrey Canal, these large specimens of Rumex crispus  (Curled Dock, Curly Dock, Yellow Dock, Sour Dock, Narrow Dock, Garden Patience Narrow-leaved Dock) have looked stunning these last few weeks, standing out from a meadow of handsome weeds as I turn right off the path on to Glengall Road. I’ve just done a bit of research on the path ( Surrey Canal Path) and the stretch I ride along has been amusingly re-branded The Surrey Linear Canal Park. It’s a rather tidy walkway but my eye is always drawn by those unkempt, neglected areas where weeds can spread out and really show what they can do.

New prints. 8.7.13.

New prints for sale.

I’ve just added 15 new images to the collection of prints for sale online at www.kevindutton.net . They include this springtime study of Covollaria (Lily of the Valley).

Lichen.5.12

Lichen. Near Corfe, Dorset.

Following yet more torrential rain, we embarked on the muddiest of walks from Corfe. This lichen, Evernia Prunastri  (or Oakmoss) I think, enshrouded the trees as we crossed over a small river.

Wild Garlic

Allium ursinum (ramsons, wild garlic) at Ilam, Peak District.

Seas of wild garlic just beginning to come into flower at Easter. I snapped these during a walk in the Peak District at Ilam, Derbyshire. Wild garlic has plenty of common names: Ramsons, buckrams, wild garlic, broad-leaved garlic, wood garlic, bear leek, and bear’s garlic.
